At each meeting there is a guest speaker, a raffle, and often a swap meet. Speakers in the past have included, Dr.Scott Weinstein - leading expert on venomous snake research; Allen Salzberg -one of the leading experts on turtles and turtle husbandry; Dr. Heidi Hoefer, D.V.M.; Bert Langerwurf - owner of the largest lizard breeding facilities in the United States; Dr. Janis Roze -the leading authority on Coral snakes and Arrau river turtles; Bill Love - Blue Chameleon Ventures; Lyle Puente - Global Gecko Association; as well as representatives from the Department of U.S. Fish & Wildlife and the N.Y. State D.E.C. Many herpetological Veterinarians have given presentations at LIHS meetings as well.
